~Facts About Hawaii
-Hawaii is the only state made up of islands entirely .

-There are six main islands : Kaua'i , O'ahu , Moloka'i , Lana'i , Maui and Hawai'i Island .
- Hawaii's natural beauty includes warm tropical climate, inviting waters and waves, and active volcanoes make it a popular destination for tourists, surfers, biologists, and volcanologists.
- It is 2,390 miles (3,850 km) from California, 3,850 miles (6,195 km) from Japan and 4,900 miles (7,885 km) from China.
-It is located at mid-Pacific , and the Island has many North American and Asian.
-The Hawaiian archipelago spans the distance of 1,524 miles (2,451 km) making Hawaii the longest island chain in the world.
-Its capital is Honolulu .
-It is the second most populous county in the state, numbering 130500 in 1992.

-Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness, combined with prayer.

-Traditionally hoʻoponopono is practiced by healing priests( kahuna lapaʻau) among family members of a person who is sick .

-The arts are of high interest on the islands, either in the form of music, photography, hula dance, or art.

-The Hawaiian islands are also home to some of the most fascinating heiau (temples) .

-It continue to grow strong and steadily to this day as there are pure blood Hawaiians who remains in the total population

English:
Hawaii is part of America and most people speak English . As one of the two official languages, English is the language commonly used by the state for business, education .


Hawaiian:
Hawaiian remains the language of the heart and soul. The language sways like a palm tree in a gentle wind. Its words are as melodious as a love song. Hawaiian is a Polynesian language spoken throughout the inhabited Hawaiian Islands. But , Hawaiian is a dying language.

Pidgin:
Pidgin is the language of the people, the emotions, and life. Hawaii's ethnic mix created by Hawaii's immigrants as a simplified language for communication between peoples speaking different languages.

~Environmental Issues (Air pollution , Water pollution )

  1. Air pollution

-Air pollution caused by SO2 and other gases emitted from Kilauea became a frequent problem on the Island of Hawai`i in 1986.

- Vog is created when SO2 and other volcanic gases combine and mixed chemically in the atmosphere with oxygen, moisture, dust, and sunlight over periods of minutes to days.

-Vog is a visible haze consisting of gas plus a mixture of tiny liquid and solid particles, called aerosol.

- SO2 is a poisonous gas that irritates skin and the tissues and mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, and throat.

2. Water pollution

-Direct and indirect contaminant sources :

- Direct sources include outfalls from factories, refineries, waste treatment plants etc , that emit fluids of varying quality directly into urban water supplies.

-Indirect sources include contaminants that enter the water supply from soils/groundwater systems and from the atmosphere via rain water.
